The style of the Wiener Werkstätte not only left its mark on the interior decoration of the fashion salon of the Flöge sisters, but also greatly influenced their clothing designs. The appearance of their clothing was initially determined by geometric patterns, later also by floral designs. This shawl from the estate of Emilie Flöge shows a simple and elegant black-and-white combination that was achieved by sewing bright textile bands onto the transparent material. The shawl was made from the same composition of fabrics as the Black Bag with Sewn-on White Textile Bands created around 1912. Both accessories were worn to complete a matching outfit.
