Egon Schiele and Arthur Roessler in Front of Schloss Ort, Jul. 1913

One fine summer day, Egon Schiele (1890–1918) and Arthur Roessler (1877–1955) visited Schloss Ort(h) on the Traunsee lake. The artist had been invited by Roessler to spend two weeks in Altmünster from mid-July 1913. Roessler, gazing out of the picture, and Schiele, watching the reflections on the water surface, are standing on the wooden bridge connecting the shore and the small island on which the palace is located.
Roessler: “Together we enjoyed many fine days […]. We often rowed out on the lake, strolled to Gmunden, which Schiele liked very much, and made several visits to Schloss Orth on the small island, for which Schiele had a special preference […].”1
