Much in keeping with the aim of embellishing all areas of life with art, Koloman Moser (1868–1918) designed objects of delicate glass art, including long-stemmed drinking glasses as well as ornate receptacles in various shapes and shades. From 1899 Moser designed countless models and drafts for vases, carafes and glass services for the chandelier manufactory E. Bakalowits Söhne. Among them was the crystal table service Meteor No. 100 produced by the Bohemian glass manufactory Meyr’s Neffe. Along with carafes and pitchers, the service also included numerous glasses with optical molding, such as champagne flutes, wine chalices, liqueur glasses as well as beer and water tumblers, some of which were decorated with subtle graded colors of green, rose or yellow hues. The characteristic, animated spherical decor, reminiscent of air bubbles rising to the surface in the water, is common to all the components of the service.
