This glass object was displayed at the Winter Exhibition at the Austrian Museum of Art and Industry in 1913 and was also presented at the 1914 Werkbund Exhibition in Cologne in the following year. Carl Witzmann (1883–1952) studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts with Josef Hoffmann (1870–1956), who had also put him in touch with the Wiener Werkstätte. Many of his glass designs show a strong affinity for his teacher’s oeuvre.
