Unfortunately not on display at the moment
In this slightly blurry photograph, Egon Schiele (1890–1918) is looking at the camera with his mouth slightly open. In the uncropped, original version of this black-and-white photograph, which was taken in 1913 in Gmunden on the Traunsee, we see Schiele’s then partner Wally Neuzil (1894–1917) standing next to Schiele on the right. It is the only photograph of the artist together with his favorite model. It must have been taken in mid to late July 1913, as Schiele had been in Altmünster during this time at the invitation of his friend and patron Arthur Roessler (1877–1955). Roessler and Schiele went on several excursions together, at least one of which was enriched by Neuzil’s presence.
