Unfortunately not on display at the moment
The present page from a sketchbook shows designs by Egon Schiele (1890–1918) on the front and the reverse side. On the front, the artist captured the figure of an infant, complete with his signature and the date 1915. The sketch recalls the child depiction in the painting Mother with Two Children II. As in this painting, the baby in the sketch is wrapped in a cloth, with only the small face and tiny feet showing. The reverse side (/en/object/FRL 3499) boasts drafts for two compositions: one for Seated Couple – the corresponding watercolor is kept at the Albertina in Vienna (Inv. 29766, Kallir D1788) – and one showing a mother with a child on her lap, possibly a preliminary study for Mother with Two Children II.
