Dear Mr. Peschka!
All of us in my circle are so filled with pain by the death of our adored, much beloved friend that I am unable to bring myself to any of the usual declarations of condolence. The fate of these two young people who were so full of life is horrible enough as it is. But to those who have seen into the soul of Schiele this death can make [illegible] forget. – Today in this poor time – such an artist and such a man disappears. – I am approaching you with a heartfelt request. Please send us photographs and drawings
that will enable me to create a portrait, as my memory of him is still fresh.
In [illegible] he should have painted a mural in our library, he already had the
measurements. I am miserable now and when I come to town we would like to see
if one of his existing pieces will fit. – As for his grave and anything that serves to hold on to his works and his creativity, we will keep it.
In deepest sympathy with the whole family, yours
B. [Broncia] Koller
