Vienna, 1st Nov. 1918
Dear sister-in-law!
It is with great pain and regret that I have read about the passing of your dear son Egon in the newspapers and I would like to express our heartfelt condolences on behalf of myself and my Mama and my daughter Hilda, as well as my sister-in-law Luise, who is currently staying with us. My wife and the 3 boys are still in Pritschitz. You will have read about the rumors that Pörtschach a/[m] See was burnt down by pillaging cohorts.
I am going there tonight to accompany our Harald to nuns in Klagenfurt and to bring my family, God willing, safely home to Vienna in time.
It is a painful time filled with misery, worries and agitation and I can only assure you
once again that we are deeply feeling for you in the excess of sorrow that you have to bear.
Your brother-in-law
Angerer.
