Letter from Egon Schiele to Anton Faistauer
5th Aug. 1918
(Tulln 1890–1918 Vienna)
(St. Martin near Lofer 1887–1930 Vienna)
Translation of the Transcription:
5th August 1918.
Dear Faistauer, – below, I send you the wording of my letter to [Karl] Stemolak:
Dear Mr. St. [Mr. Stemolak] – to arrive at an agreement, we ask you to send us a document from the artists’ association Hagen outlining what you need from us in case of a collaboration. After consulting with my colleagues, I can inform you that a cooperation would be possible under the conditions you mentioned recently.
The points most important to us are:
1. Separate exhibitions with our title under the Hagenbund.
2. Free hand when choosing the works to be exhibited.
3. The artists that sign the above-mentioned list with conditions become members of the artists’ association Hagen, and are allowed to recommend further artists for membership.
Hoping for an imminent reply and the delivery of your list as soon as possible,
I send best regards and remain sincerely yours,
E. S.
This will be sent as a registered letter to St. Write to Harlfinger. Where will you be in Salzburg? – I might be there too and might be able to come visit you in Mayshofen [!].
Kind regards,
EGON
