5th December 1915.
Dear [Felix Albrecht] Harta, – I am about to leave for Mt. Exelberg, because
I have been commanded from the Northern Railway Station to Gänserndorf
at 1.17 today, from where I will have to take Russians to work
at the Northern Railway Station in Vienna every other day.
– I have thus not had any time yesterday nor today to do the drawings
nor will I be able to come and see you today.
– I will take art supplies and drawings that need
coloring and might draw Russians in G. [Gänserndorf]
seeing as I am free to do as I please every other day.
[Carl] Moll wrote me that the pictures for the exhibition
must be at the former Pisko Gallery by Thursday,
I will try to be in Vienna on Thursday.
– At any rate, the 3 paintings, i.e.
200 x 170 cm “Levitation” [3] M. [Mark] 10.000
180 x 150 cm “Death and Girl” [4] M. 6000
160 x 150 cm “Mother” [5] M. 6000
and ten colored drawings and 10 prepared frames
are at my studio and when the
carrier comes, please accompany him,
the key for the studio is with Mr. [Johann] Harms opposite
my house [at no.] 114. 1st floor –
If the exhibition catalogue is illustrated
please remember my request previously expressed to
[Koloman] Moser and Moll
that at least one painting and at least
one drawing be reproduced.
And since I want to exhibit at least
20 drawings, 10 frames will need
to be picked up at Arnot’s, which is not
far from Pisko’s. I might be able to
bring the corresponding drawings
on Thursday.
I would like to come to Berlin
for the exhibition opening and hope
to get 8 days of vacation. If I am in
Vienna we will see
each other on Thursday.
Best regards,
Schiele.
! Make sure the painting “Mother” is labeled
unfinished! Maybe the text in the catalogue could
read u… [unfinished] because of military service
The drawings (colored) are M. 200 each. black (100)
