Fragment of a Letter from Egon Schiele to Anton Peschka from Trieste
14th May 1912
(Tulln 1890–1918 Vienna)
(Vienna 1885–1940 Vienna)
Translation of the Transcription:
it is high time that you saw Trieste! – You could immediately hold an exhibition there, there are entirely different people there and an international public! You and I would do this exhibition together. – I am sitting in the cafe at the top of this new, largest hotel on the pier; everything is teeming with the noblest, purest and deepest colors – tremendous! – Once I have received the money, I will come back here, and will write to you before you come about everything I have seen at the Wörthersee and here, now I will set to work.
Send 50 K [crowns] at once to me, Egon Schiele, presently Trieste, Hotel Europa.
Affectionate regards,
Egon.
I have a lot to write to you, all of it to do with painting.
