Translation of the Transcription:
25th October 1918.
Dear Madam, – my wife has been bed-ridden since Saturday, and, according to the doctor, is seriously ill with influenza – perhaps there was a slight improvement today, x [insert see below], nevertheless, she needs to be treated with the utmost attention and care, as she is six months pregnant. – Milk that was prescribed already on the first day will only arrive, red tape willing, this coming Sunday, as there isn’t any. She is very weak and very pale, and is in great need of this nourishment, which would be easy for her to ingest.
x although she hasn’t slept even one hour all this time
Unfortunately, the nice autumn days are passing, without even the slightest idea when I might be able to come to O. W. [Oberwaltersdorf].
Sending heartfelt regards to O. W.
Yours sincerely,
EGON
