Currently on display at OG4
Tina Blau Lang’s (1845-1916) works were often created in the great outdoors, where motifs had to be quickly captured on canvas, in order to bear witness to the fleetingness of an impression. A practice that becomes particularly evident in this work: Blau-Lang’s painting shows a figure, modelled with just a few brushstrokes, making its way through a field surrounded by trees together with a black cow. The animal and other elements of the composition are merely sketched out. Figures and forest almost fuse into a single entity. Only the sky seems to have been drawn up in detail by the artist. Numerous such depictions have been preserved in the Mood Impressionist’s Oeuvre.
