The design of the catalogue accompanying the 55th Exhibition of the Hagenbund is different to that of the previous year, realized by Georg Mayer-Martón (1897–1960). Created for the 1927 exhibition by an anonymous graphic designer, the two covers are similar in terms of the orthogonal beams on a white surface, though the later design boasts a much more radical simplification of forms. While Mayer-Martón’s Constructivist catalogue cover still showed an individual style and a playful planar composition, this cover is characterized by a clearly structured lettering devoid of images and ornaments. This trend continued with subsequent exhibition catalogues.
