Munich, 25th April 1917.
Mr.
Egon Schiele,
Vienna’s 13th district,
Hietzinger Hauptstrasse 101.
Dear Mr. Schiele!
I received 5 black and 5 colored works on paper. To balance out my credit, I have chosen the following works:
From the new works 4 black drawings and
2 colored drawings
From the old works 2 black drawings and
1 colored drawing.
Thus, 1 black and 3 colored drawings from the new works will remain on consignment. The old works – except for 4 which have been sent away for inspection – I will send you today via post (12 colored and 16 black ones). I do ask you to send me some of your new works on paper on consignment as soon as possible. Exhibitions of paintings in Germany are not possible during the War, as they cannot be brought into the country from Austria. As soon as the War is over, however, I will be more than happy to organize an exhibition for you in Germany, and to show it in various German cities.
Until then, I send you my regards and remain faithfully yours!
