Unfortunately not on display at the moment
Timeless, Anton Faistauer’s (1887–1930) Inner Forest of 1914 quietly unfolds itself. Incident sunlight makes for a contrast-rich yet harmonious play of light and shadow, steeping the forest path in warming light colors and a sense of blithe carefreeness in a time of greatest worry. At the outbreak of the First World War, Anton Faistauer, too, feared he would have to leave his family for frontline military service. Against this background, the forest, quietly resting in itself like on almost any other summer afternoon, appears as an almost utopian idyl.
