In January 1903, the Hagenbund dedicated a small exhibition to the Swiss painter Arnold Böcklin (1827–1901), presenting 19 works by the Symbolist. The posthumous exhibition was staged in the Zedlitzhalle exhibition space of the Hagenbund. Even though it gave no comprehensive overview of the artist’s oeuvre, it provided valuable insight into his art. Joseph Urban (1872–1933) designed the rooms, while the catalogue was designed by Raimund Germela (1868–1945), who had also been in charge of the Catalogue for the 2nd Exhibition of the Hagenbund. The exhibition was met with positive reviews; the catalogue, in particular, was praised for its meticulous texts and beautiful reproductions.
