June 2, 1912.
Dear Mr. E. O. [Ernst Osthaus],
If you are not disinclined, I ask you to once again send me a pre-payment for a picture; I am in such a bind that I unfortunately have to write, what I most unwillingly want to do in this matter. – If you are agreeable then you may acquire in exchange the larger painting “Hermits,” which has now been published in “Kunst für Alle” [Art for All] and is now exhibited at the Hagenbund. I send best regards to you!
