August 1, 1912.
Dear Mr. Osthaus,
[I] don’t have a figurative painting ready, so I am sending you the “Dead City” and, in addition, 6 of my most recent drawings. I would very much like to see the Sonderbund exhibition and I ask you to send me another 200 MK [marks] for the painting; the sheets I offer for 30 MK [marks] per piece – Should you not like the painting, you can always exchange it with another when you visit me in Vienna.
