Letter from Oskar Kokoschka to Franz Hauer
24th Oct. 1913
(Pöchlarn 1886–1980 Montreux)
(Weißenkirchen in the Wachau valley 1867–1914 Vienna)
Translation of the Transcription:
Dear Mr. Hauer
The reason why I would like to paint you is that I find your face very interesting and that I have wished for a long time to paint you. And not because I want to earn money.
I therefore ask you not to make a purchase (certainly not to feel obliged in any way) and to leave it up to me, if you will do me the honor of sitting for me, to paint a worthy picture. I will be expecting you tomorrow, Tuesday.
With best regards
Oskar Kokoschka
