In October 1906, Egon Schiele (1890–1918) was admitted to the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts at the age of only 16, and studied there for a total of six semesters. After his poor success at school, where he had felt misunderstood, Egon Schiele was finally able to devote himself to his artistic activities. However, his ambitions were curbed by the Academy’s conservative curriculum, causing Schiele to leave prematurely in 1909 upon completing the triennium. Extant objects from his time at the Academy include a Calling Card and the Triangle Ruler.
