Unfortunately not on display at the moment
On her extensive study trips to North and South Europe, Tina Blau-Lang (1845-1916) captured what she saw in a multitude of landscape paintings such as this view of Veere, a small town in the southern Netherlands, from 1906. A wooden ship at anchor, overflowing with straw bales is tied to the landing stage . The roughly sketched prop figures bring the scene to life. They endeavor to load the straw on a carriage in the background. Receiving instructions on this from another figure, a woman dressed in blue. Blau-Lang created a composition which corresponds to the stylistic trends of Atmospheric Impressionism in her usual manner through bright coloring and the simplicity of the scene.
