Dürnstein is amongst the Atmospheric Impressionist Tina Blau-Lang’s (1845-1916) most beloved motifs: she created thirty different views of the city, whereby she primarily focused on the surrounding landscape in the depiction from 1897/98. A blooming field cultivated by a single figure is at the center of the composition. A few trees frame the scene. The background is dominated by the town’s church, which Blau-Lang chose as the subject of other paintings, as well as the ruin towering above it and the monumental mountain chain.
