In 1908, Koloman Moser (1868–1918) was given the opportunity to design a series of stamps to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I’s (1830–1916) reign. Entitled Austrian Jubilee Postal Stamps, the stamps show emperors’ portraits from Charles VI (1685–1740) to Franz Joseph I, along with the imperial residences. Moser created different ornamental frames for each stamp. His designs for postal stamps and bank notes allowed him to come especially close to his professed aim of permeating all areas of life with art.
