The artist Tina Blau-Lang (1845-1916) became especially famous as a representative of Atmospheric Impressionism for her landscape paintings, which she mostly created in the Viennese countryside and on her travels through North and South Europe. In this composition the viewer’s gaze is directed along a path leading into the distance to a small church as well as a farmstead next door. Trees line the pathway that also skirts a field cultivated by a single figure. Blau-Lang’s depiction once again captivates with its arrangement of pictorial elements reminiscent of a photograph and conveys cheerful atmosphere through the bright shade of green and the bright blue sky. The artwork remained unfinished.
